Great piece. Intriguing parallel between mentorship & middle management. Thanks.

Has anybody tested the effectiveness of the strategy of training and using middle managers as mentors in large/legacy firms? How to best train them for the task? How to compensate/incentivize them? This might be one of those rare questions that would be relevant for both practitioners and academia :)
