Unfortunately, in most cases there’s zero incentive for middle managers to dedicate themselves in innovative endeavors. Extra hard work for them with no upside! If the idea is successful, it was the intrapreneurs’ and/or executives’ vision (and they get the prize). If it fails, it was middle managers’ fault. All sticks no carrots. There’s seems to be a need for better incentive mechanisms.
